The Ministry of Education is deeply saddened by the passing of Jardell Watts of the Saddlers Secondary School. Our hearts go out to his parents Ms. Jacinh Matthew and Mr. Laurence Watts, extended family and friends during this difficult time. This unexpected incident has touched the hearts of every single member of the Saddlers Secondary School family, the community and the education fraternity. Words cannot adequately express the sadness we feel at this time.
As an athlete in first form he quickly established himself as having superior athletic ability. It therefore goes without saying that Jardell had much potential and was a bright star with high expectations for the future. Jardell set high standards for himself as an athlete and desired to make his family and community proud through his athletic pursuits. We must now blend our collective sorrow, sympathy and understanding to build a wall of support and strength around his family during this period of grief. We assure you that you will not stand alone.
We additionally pray God’s comfort to the parents, students and staff members.
And to our Bright Star who has left us too soon, we say like Mahatma Gandhi, “There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my/our heart(s).”
Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley
