Basseterre, St. Kitts, Tuesday April 09, 2024: During the launch ceremony of the Caribbean Centre for Excellence in Research, Innovation and Workforce Training, the Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Minister of Education, commended the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) for its significant strides in promoting renewable energy.
In his remarks on Tuesday, April 09, The Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, shared.
“This transformative initiative holds immense promise to our beloved federation and the wider Caribbean region. As we look at addressing the gap, we recognize that the Eastern Caribbean faces a significant gap in comprehensive solar photovoltaic (PE) and Electric Vehicle (EV) training and services. Our Centre will fill this void, becoming the regional hub for training and expertise in this vital field. As we move towards a sustainable future, the Centre’s associated initiatives represent a major stride towards realizing a sustainable energy future. By powering local and regional professionals we can drive economic growth, protect our environment, and enhance quality of life.”
Mr. Andrew Abraham, President of CFBC, expressed his enthusiasm for the Centre’s potential to drive positive change.
“The establishment of the Caribbean Center of Excellence positions CFBC as a regional leader in renewable energy education and innovation. The impact of this project extends far beyond our college campus and by nurturing a generation of skilled professionals and innovators in renewable energy, we contribute to the resilience and prosperity of our nation and the wider Caribbean community.”
Founder and Executive Director of GSI, Dr. Wayne Archibald, highlighted the objective of the Centre.
“Our vision for this Centre is both ambitious and firmly rooted in the pressing needs of our region. It stands as a beacon of progress dedicated to not only groundbreaking research but also as a central hub for training and certification. Our aim is to cultivate a skilled workforce primed to confront the challenges and to seize the opportunities that lie ahead of us.”
The launch of the Caribbean Centre for Excellence, a collaborative effort between the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) and Green Solutions International (GSI), represents a significant milestone in CFBC’s journey towards becoming a leading hub for education, research, and innovation in the Caribbean.
