MOE HOSTS PRE-SERVICE TRAINING FOR PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS

Basseterre: St. Kitts, Wednesday, June 26, 2024: The Ministry of Education launched its annual teacher recruitment process for the 2024-2025 academic year on Monday June 24 under the theme ‘Transforming Education through Self-Renewal, Holistic Partnerships and Digital Solutions’. The opening ceremony which was held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic School Auditorium marked the start of the two-week training course.

Addressing attendees, Minister of Education Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley expressed, the ministry’s commitment in promoting quality and inclusive education.

“As we prepare our new teachers, we emphasize the importance of inclusive practices that celebrate diversity and promote equity. Inclusive education lies at the heart of our vision. It is not merely a buzz word; it is a fundamental principle that guides our educational endeavors. Inclusion means creating an environment where every child regardless of their abilities, background or circumstances, feel valued, respected and empowered. Inclusive education cannot be realized unless our teachers champion this cause.”

Chief Education Officer (CEO), Mr. Francil Morris emphasized the importance of the Pre-service Training and encouraged participants to maximize on the opportunity given,

“I encourage all prospective teachers to approach this seminar with an open mind and a heart eager to learn. Seize every opportunity to inspire and collaborate with one another. The knowledge you gain here will not only benefit you but will also have a lasting impact on the lives of many students in the years to come.”
