Basseterre: St. Kitts, Thursday, May 21, 2026: The Education Media Unit says it is anticipating an influx of submissions for its Minister of Education for A Day Challenge, a national initiative designed to empower secondary school students from ages 13 to 16.
Held under the theme, “The Next Generation of Education Leaders Starts Here,” the challenge invites students to share innovative ideas and practical solutions aimed at improving the nation’s education system.
Students will identify a key educational issue, propose a solution and outline the projected national impact; presenting these ideas by way of a brief video of two minutes or less and a six hundred word written speech addressing cabinet.
Director of the Education Media Unit, Maria Crawford, described the initiative as an important investment in youth leadership and national development.
“We at the Education Media Unit have not just launched a Challenge — we are opening doors for young people to experience leadership, civic mindedness and responsibility, as well as to shape national development first-hand. The Minister of Education for A Day Challenge is an opportunity to inspire the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and decision-makers who will help shape the future of our nation. We are proud to invest in their potential and give them a seat at the table where ideas become action.”
The challenge also offers participants the opportunity to win exciting prizes, including shadowing the Minister of Education for one day, gift certificates and more.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 7, 2026, and all submissions should be emailed to ministerofeducationforaday@moe.edu.kn
Queries may be sent to that same email address or contact 467-2409. The Ministry of Education encourages all eligible students in St. Kitts to participate in this unique initiative and take the first step toward becoming tomorrow’s education leaders.
